Nan Chul Shin, founder and owner of our General Contractor, Nan, Inc., started from humble beginnings as a first-generation immigrant from South Korea. Nan attended high school in Guam and New York and graduated from college in Ohio. When he first moved to Hawaii over thirty years ago from the mainland, he worked small labor jobs before finally being able to save enough money to bid on two large government construction projects, where he ended up as the lowest bidder on both. These projects were the start of his incredible journey. 

Throughout the years, Nan has always made philanthropy a priority. He has donated and volunteered his own time to organizations such as Make-A-Wish Hawaii, Child & Family Services, and the Navy Seal Foundation. He also organizes an annual trip to the Philippines where he helps build homes and schools for the local residents. Nan has even found a way to tie his philanthropic efforts into his love for soccer, donating to organizations such as the Special Olympics, RUSH Soccer, and most recently, the UH Manoa’s Women’s soccer team.
